Project commissioned by ARTE, consisting of a graphic reinterpretation of a two-minute excerpt from the documentary Sisters with Transistors (2020) by Lisa Rovner, which traces the pioneers of electronic music.
My approach focused on retaining only the voice-over text, replacing the images with an evolving system of dot grids. These grids change according to the speech and key moments of the documentary, notably those evoking the golden age of electronic music when people manipulated machines as well as the era of the “anatomical bombs.”
The graphic representation draws inspiration from both Op Art and the rhythmic structures inherent to electronic music, translating sound into visual matter and speech into graphic rhythm.
